Best sleeping areas
Paris is a very extensive city and the points of interest are quite far from each other. If you want to stay in the most elegant Paris, the Champs Elysees, Place de la Concorde, the Louvre and the area of the Opéra Garnier are safe bets. If on the other hand you prefer the street atmosphere and you want to enjoy the nightlife, the Latin Quarter is the ideal choice.
Anyway, we can sum up by saying that both banks of the Seine, from Ile de la Cité to the Eiffel Tower are central, safe and ideal areas to stay.
If you want to save and you do not mind having to take the metro every morning, you will find cheaper hotels somewhat further from the center. On the other side, as Paris is such a large city, wherever you are you will have to use public transport on multiple occasions.
