The Defense
Located in the west of Paris, the area of La Défense is one of the most important business districts in Europe, comparable to the City of London. Hundreds of towers and skyscrapers that belong to the most important companies, both in France and worldwide, are crowded in the area.
The La Défense neighborhood offers a different panorama than the rest of Paris. Full of skyscrapers and large buildings with futuristic air, offers a wide range of leisure and catering in the Quatre Temps shopping center, which after its construction in 1980 held the title of the largest shopping center in Europe.
In addition to the large cement and glass towers, the neighborhood offers an exhibition of more than sixty contemporary works of art open air, squares, fountains, and even has some curious hanging gardens.
The Arch of Defense
The Grande Arche de la Fraternité, better known as the Arch of Defense or Grande Arche, is one of the main buildings in the district of La Défense.
The Arc de la Defense, inaugurated in 1989, is a huge, 110-meter-high hollow cube built of marble and granite covered with glass plates.
The arch is open to the public and allows you to contemplate Paris from the heights, offering exceptional views of the historic axis of the city after raising its visitors to 110 meters in its panoramic elevators.
